BIO

My name is Dakota Cheyenne Wells, I am from Summit Mississippi. I was born on March 1,1999 and I was practically running barrels and rodeo while not even born yet.  I started riding by myself when I was maybe 2 years old. I had a little flea bit grey pony named Princess. We started me at little horse shows and I would always love to go to the horse show. I would always love getting ribbons. I used to love going to the USTRC roping with my family too. As, I got older we got me a pony named Tater Tot. A couple of months went on owning him and I got the hang of him! Man, that was the best time ever,  we would always win everything! I was associated with some youth rodeos and won All Around Cowgirl several years in a row! I also won 1st place in barrels,  poles,  goat tying, and arena race! We would go down to Amit Louisiana and do the Finally Friday runs. I won the pony race and placed in the 3D in the open! I would always do the all American Youth Barrel Race in Jackson Mississippi every year and I would enter the pony race on him. We would always do good at the barrel races, one time we won 1st place in 3D, won a big check, and a wild card to Youth World! I ran Tater Tot at Youth World in Jackson for one year! I’m also a member of the NBHA MS05 and I also won a belt buckle on him 4D 1st place in 2007. I outgrew Tater Tot and bought a dash for cash horse named Baby. Due to accidents, I had to sell her. I still rode Tater Tot until I got another horse named Tug. I loved her and loved to run her! I got with tug in know time! Every barrel race we went to we would always place. There was this one incident that her TMJ and her woof tooth was bothering her and we had to over come that. But after we got the vet down from Mississippi, she straightened up and we started winning again. I finally ended up selling Tug in place of Bully. He is a 1D horse and has won many rodeos and barrel races! At first we started out slow and easy and the first time I rode him we had a 16 and he did all the work! We have been doing really good with each other and I have won some money and an average on him at the Platinum Productions in Jackson, Mississippi. We have won a lot of money together in the year that I have had him. We are still figuring each other out but when we get 100% together and our minds are on the same page we are going to be burning up the barrel racing world. He is super fast and super fun to ride and run and he loves his job to. I am currently a Junior at North Pike high school in Summit Mississippi and I’m seventeen years old. I plan on high school rodeo next year and maybe getting my Junior WPRA card. When I turn eighteen I would like to get my real permit and try to qualify for the National Finals Rodeo, but first graduate high school. North West Community College in Senatobia Mississippi and East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, Mississippi, has contacted me about their rodeo team programs. So if I didn’t get my WPRA card right after high school and went to college, I could college rodeo and make the College Rodeo Finals. I would like to go to college either to be a vet or something in the medical field. I have been looking into doing online courses so I could go up and down the road to rodeo. In 2015 I did the Junior Miss Dixie National rodeo pageant and won the Cowgirl With The Most Heart award. We also did the Josey Junior World out in Marshall Texas. The first go round I was one hole out in placing! I was kinda let down but I didn’t let it get to me because I knew I still had go round 2 to make it! Go round two went okay, but I still was out a few spots of making it also. I am so thankful that I get to do this sport and have the kind of athletes I have. I absolutely love them and wouldn’t trade them for anything. I would also like to thank my parents for supporting me and for letting me grow up around horses and giving me the training I need and the type of support I need to be able to do this. I am also very thankful for my mom, she has taught me so much through my life time and so much about horses. She has rode horses all of her life to so I came up with the best trainer. She has helped me with my riding and gives me the tips and tricks I need to get better. I am thankful to get help from the best people around. Sara Wilson has helped me tremendously with my barrel racing career, I wouldn’t be the kind of rider and have the knowledge I have if we haven’t had met her.

On May 30, 2016 it was Memorial Day I had been at a swimming pool all day! Towards the end of the day, everyone was leaving and I was leaving to go to a friends party! I was driving just fine and I was coming up on a curve, I looked down to reach for something in my passenger seat and when I looked up I was on the side of the road. I hit a concrete drive way and tried to get back on the road. I started flipping and about after the second flip I thought I was gone. When it finally stopped flipping I was hanging upside down. I opened my eyes and looked around and I didn’t know where I was. I tried to get my seat belt off and it would budge. My phone was in a beach bag in the passenger seat. I felt around for it and I did not find it. I pushed my seat belt so hard it finally came undone and I was able to roll out of the passenger side. the light pole took my door off it was up the road. I finally got out and went to looking for my phone I found my beach bag but there was no phone. I kept looking and finally found my phone in the woods far away from my car. I called my mom and they were on their way. I started running down the road flagging for help. A nice lady came back and helped me until my mom and the ambulance and the police got there. I felt extremely well by the Grace of God but we still went to the hospital and got me checked out. I am still here by the Grace of God. God left me here to have a testimony to tell people and to get people on the right track and to get people saved. if you are not saved yet and you feel hopeless come to Jesus. Jesus loves you. All you have to believe in your heart that he is the one and the true king admit that you are a sinner and saved with amazing grace. Believe that he is the way the truth and the light and confess your sins to him, tell him all your wrongs he will wipe you clean and you will feel so much better.
