My name is Dana Blacksheep and I’m full blooded Navajo. I was not born on the Navajo Reservation, I was born & raised in Peoria, Arizona. My dad managed to bring his passion of horses to the city, and then slowly to me. All my life I’ve been around horses & I dreamed of becoming a barrel racer. I didn’t take action of this dream until my sophomore year in high school. I started off competing in Gymkhana’s, then to barrel racing jackpots, and finally to rodeos! I’ve won many barrel racing & pole bending jackpots. So far, one of my biggest accomplishments was qualifying for the AJRA finals with only entering three of their rodeos & finishing fifth in their barrel racing standings. And winning first place checks in the NBHA New Years Barrel Race in the Youth and in the Open.
