“What’s your name?” is a question often asked and always explained with sincerity. I am Elizabeth Powers. I’m motivated by hard times, make goals only a dreamer would think to pursue, and most importantly, I’m an adrenaline seeking cowgirl. I live on a 65 acre farm in the middle of a small town in southern Michigan. I show beef cattle as well as my mare Lakota and, win or lose, I enjoy every second of it. I have traveled all over the country showing and pursuing my dreams of being a well known cattle breeder but my life would be empty without my horse.
My mare Lakota is about 15 hands tall and her color is bay tobiano. (She’s my dream horse) I’ve only owned her for a year and a half but I’ve been riding as long as I can remember. I started out trail riding for an older lady with knee problems when I was 8 years old and with a positive attitude and hard work I progressed my way up to training and showing my own horses as well as teaching other people how to ride and getting them started on their path to success. When I was younger my dad always said, “You’ll never have a horse on this farm while I’m alive.” but look at us now. I honestly couldn’t have done anything without him and his plans to make his little girls dreams come true. I ride for my dad and the big man upstairs! Without them I wouldn’t be half of what I am today!
