Primary Horse’s Name He Came Rapped ‘Tony”
Born in northern Indiana, I’ve always looked for every opportunity I could find to be in the barn. I began riding competitively at age 18, winning classes in western horsemanship and hunter equitation. He Came Rapped or “Tony” is my favorite horse, he’s a great teacher, always giving me lessons on humility and patience.
My college’s IHSA western team traveled to semi-finals in 2015 where I placed first in advanced horsemanship. We then traveled to Massachusetts for Nationals and although our school is one of the smallest, we were ranked fourth in the nation by the end of the week.
I think there is something to learn from everyone you meet in the horse industry, but my western coach is still my biggest role model in and out of the show pen. Tenacity, teamwork, and ‘grace under fire’ are just a few of the many lessons I learned as she pushed us all to be our best. I hope to continue to compete and set a great example as a Lakota Young Professional.
