My name is Taylor Watkins. I grew up on the north coast of California in a town called Eureka. Ever since I was little, I’ve always been very competitive. I always strive to be the best I possibly can be as an athlete, whether that’s slow work on the pattern or keeping my body in the best shape it can be in. I run two main horses, Sizzle and Rosie. When I was nine years old, my parents bought me my first horse out of Texas, which was Rosie, and I’ve had her ever since. As a competitor, I am gone almost every weekend at a barrel race or rodeo. I crave the adrenaline it gives me as they call my name and open up that gate. One accomplishment I am proud to share is the Fortuna Jr. Rodeo Champion Barrel Racer 2016. I’ve worked harder and harder every year to be at the top, but this last year it finally paid off. My role model is Sherry Cervi, and every year I make sure to sign up for her Sherry Cervi Youth Championship barrel race down in Ceres, CA where she spends all weekend signing autographs, giving us tips, and helping us overall to be the best of the best. Overall, I am just an independent, serious athlete who is always working to be at the top.
